    Hi guys! Looking for skin care products to try? Well, I have a good news for you. You can save a lot of money trying this skin care set. No need to buy (or waste) money for full size bottles just to know if the product suits you. So let me share to you Laneige basic skin care set.

Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture (15ml)

    This skin refiner acts as toner to remove dead skin cells and eliminate impurities from the pores. It contains Bio Dusali, which is extracted from fermented seaweed, for promoting cells turnover to achieve smooth and well hydrated skin. It also contains Royal Jelly and Sugar Cane Extracts to refine dry and rough skin for soft, well hydrated and healthy complexion. Use it after cleansing. Saturate a cotton pad and gently wipe over your face.

My thoughts:

    The primary function of a toner is to remove dirt, dead skin cells and excess oil. It also shrink pores, helps to restore skin’s pH balance, adds layer of protection, it refreshes and moisturize the skin.  Moisturize? Yes, it does, some toners are humectants that means they help bind moisture to the skin.  This toner is actually gentle and smells good! Haha… I did not experience any stingy sensation or irritations after I tried it.  Some toners contain ingredients that are too strong, which leaves the skin super dry. I am glad that this skin refiner is mild and can remove skin impurities without taking your skin’s moisture. A common mistake regarding the use of toner is rubbing it to the face.  Friction can damage your skin, so instead of rubbing to your face just lightly dab it with a cotton ball.

Laneige Balancing Emulsion Moisture (15ml)

    It contains Jojoba Oil, Royal Jelly and Bio Dusali, which is extracted from fermented seaweed, for promoting cells turnover to achieve smooth and well hydrated skin. Use it after cleansing and toning.

My thoughts:

     What is EMULSION??  Some of us are not familiar with this type of skin care product.  Let me first define emulsion.  An emulsion is a blend of atleast two liquids that is immiscible or will not blend due to their chemical properties. An emulsifier stabilizes the interaction so that both oil and water can be suspended in the emulsion. Therefore, this balancing emulsion helps to soften the skin and increase the absorption of other skin care products you layer on. This is actually light and not sticky. No breakouts and irritations. I usually let my skin absorb it for about 3-5 mins before I apply the essence.  Again, avoid rubbing it to your face.

Laneige Water Bank Essence (10ml)

This product provides 24hr long-lasting moisture result to your skin. This essence contains mineral water for skin regeneration and its' "Water Pump System" for re-hydrating and moisturizing benefits to prevent fine lines that caused by changes of environment. It also forms a natural moisture barrier on the skin to prevent dryness.

My thoughts:

    Essence or also known as Serum tends to have smaller molecules so they are capable of penetrating deeper into the skin. A lot of times, they're much more concentrated too so they absorb into the skin quicker (bubzbeauty.com). This is one of my favorite skin care product. My skin is very oily, and I thought that it would make my skin sticky or extra oily, which can cause more breakouts.  Actually, it did a great job in brightening and improving my skin. No sticky feeling! No breakouts! Very light! Let your skin fully absorb this product for 5 mins. I am planning to purchase the full bottle because I really love this. Song Hye Kyo loves this product too! ^^ 

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream (10ml)

    This is a re-hydrating moisturizer that provides 24-hour long lasting moisture result with non-sticky, refreshing feeling. Contains Grape Seed and Mango Seed oil with anti-oxidant and soothing properties to moisturize and supply nutrition and energy to dry skin. After using Water Bank Essence, use an appropriate amount of Moisture Cream and apply to your face.

1) Use it after cleansing, toning and emulsion;
2) Put some on face and gently spread from the center of the face towards hairlines;
3) Cover the entire face with both hands to enhance penetration. 

My thoughts:

    Moisturizer prevents the evaporation of moisture and nutrients inside your skin. It seals the moisture of your skin. No matter how great your moisturizer is, it will only work at the surface of your skin. So it is better to use essence/serum and moisturizer together. I am not actually a fan of moisturizer, so I tend to use less amount to prevent sticky and heavy feeling.

Final thoughts:

    This is a great skin care routine. But using all of these products may be too heavy. Therefore, to avoid the sticky feeling and heaviness use less amount, specially because I have an oily skin. Yes this is for normal to dry skin and there is a different line or routine for oily and acne prone skin. However, I think this trial set is great. I have also tried their pore line. I’m only using this set during rainy or cold weather (my skin a little dry during this weather). For those with normal to dry skin I highly recommend this trial set. It has a great job in moisturizing and in brightening your skin. It may be a little pricey for a trial kit, but worth it. Remember it is better to invest in skin care products than make ups.
