Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream Review

Hello! Last August 3, Holika holika finally open its first ever store here in Manila. I've been using one of their best seller, which is the aqua petit jelly bb cream, months before they opened their store in SM Fairview. This bb cream is being raved by a lot of girls including beauty bloggers. Ms. Michelle Phan featured it in one of her monthly favorites video. And now I will share to you the reason why I really like this bb cream. :)

Product Description: (source)

The Product contains over 70% healthy aqua. The moisturizing jelly texture on your skin is enriched with moisture, soaking into your skin and clarifying the skin, a new moisture technology BB cream. Jelly BB makes moist and bouncy jelly skin. Jelly texture spreads evenly and is perfect for covering up facial blemishes. This is a water based range of make up. It is able to minimize pore size.

Benefits:

Moisturizing
Minimizes Pores
Good for covering blemishes

How to apply:

Take an appropriate amount and apply small dab to your cheeks, forehead, and chin. With the tips of your fingers spread bb cream evenly throughout your face. To avoid bb cream from caking, let it sit for 5 minutes before building bb cream up for more coverage, and before apply any loose powders to set it with.

Ingredients:

My Thoughts:

This bb cream is labeled with "jelly" because of its jelly-like texture which is great for those with oily type of skin. It is easy to blend and feels light compared to creamy textured bb creams, which  turns out to be a little greasy and heavy.  I really love to use this bb cream specially during summer or if it is so hot outside because it is so light and not sticky. It has a semi-dewy finish. It can last for 5-6 hours and good in oil control.

It comes in a frosted thick glass with a spatula attached in the cover and a free sponge. And because I am so clumsy, I've dropped the bottle several times and thank God it didn't break!

I am in shade 02 aqua neutral. It blends perfectly to my natural skin color. The smell is bearable so I don't have any problem with that.

It has a light to medium coverage. It can tone down a little redness and lessen the appearance of hyper-pigmentation or any acne scars. If you are looking for a high coverage bb cream, well this is not for you. You need the help of your concealer to totally cover up skin imperfections. Avoid too much layering to build more coverage because it can appear cakey. It contains  SPF level of 20 PA++ which is ok, but I still prefer a higher SPF level.

Beware of the ingredients list because it contains some ingredients that can cause irritations and other harmful effects to the skin. So let me start with stearic acid. Stearic acid is a type of saturated fatty acid that can be found in animal fats and used to harden soaps and as a fragrance agent. Though it is considered as  low-moderate hazardous, it can cause skin irritations specially for those with sensitives skin. Triethanolamine is used as a fragrance agent and to balance pH level. Unfortunately, this ingredient belongs in the Top 10 Most Dangerous Toxic Chemicals in Beauty Products. It is a human skin, immune system, and respiratory toxic and may cause irritations and dryness in skin.   Dimethicone is a silicone based polymer that is used to lock in moisture in the skin and make it look flawless. It is low hazardous but it can cause irritations, dryness, allergic reactions. Butylene glycol is a viscosity-decreasing agent and conditioning agent. For those with sensitive skin, this ingredient may cause allergic reactions. Carbomer is a synthetic acrylic polymer in short plastic. It provides viscosity and texture. It can cause some skin irritations or allergic reactions. Though it contains some ingredients that can irritate the skin,  it didn't cause any allergic reaction or any irritations even I have a sensitive skin.

Because I really like this bb cream, I end up buying the whole set. haha! If you want a review for the starter or mist just let me know. I recommend this bb cream for the summer time or in places with high humid and for those with oily skin. But for those with sensitive skin you can consult your dermatologist because it contains some ingredients that may cause skin irritations. So over all I will rate this bb cream with 4.5/5.

And that's my detailed review for the holika holika aqua petit jelly bb cream. I hope you find it helpful. Don't forget to visit Holika Holika store located at SM Fairview near Uniqlo.

  5. I recently bought this bb cream and I'm trying it out, too, and so far I like it (the color match isn't the best for me, but I'm so fair.) I love how you break down the ingredients in your review. There's a couple ingredients I'm not too happy about. :(

I'd love to hear your review of the Aqua Petit Jelly Starter. I'm thinking about buying it, but I didn't know if it was worth it.
